Fee only

Most clients are not aware of the massive conflicts of interests that exist in the delivery of financial services. These conflicts tend to enrich the financial advisor more than the clients they are supposed to be serving. At Weingarten Associates, we refuse to accept any form of compensation from the sale of investment or insurance products, or any third party referral fees. Our only compensation comes directly from our clients. This fee structure assures you that the advice we provide is unbiased and in your best interests. As Jane Bryant Quinn of Newsweek said, "Financial planners who take commissions have a built-in conflict of interest…even with disclosure, my choice would be a fee-only planner."

Financial planning and tax services from one source

We offer our clients a dynamic combination of two skilled professionals to help you achieve your most cherished goals and control your financial future. Those who seek the assistance of a financial advisor are often sent to a tax preparer for implementation of a tax plan. At Weingarten Associates, Trina Weingarten, CPA, can handle all of your tax planning and tax preparation needs. Likewise, those who normally use a CPA for their tax preparation requirements may not have an objective and trusted advisor for other financial planning concerns. At Weingarten Associates, Ken Weingarten, MBA is able to provide trusted expertise for all of your financial planning needs.

Fiduciary Relationship

We accept the fiduciary responsibility of assisting you in the management of your financial affairs. Fiduciary is a legal term for "a person to whom property or power is entrusted for the benefit of another." Many financial advisory firms do not hold themselves out as fiduciaries due to the conflicts of interest inherent in their business models.

Many individuals want a "quick answer to a quick question." When it comes to planning for retirement, education, or any other important goal, there are no quick answers. We have a well-developed process that helps us to understand our clients. Only after understanding who you are, do we develop a plan to help you achieve your goals.

Achievement of Goals

Many people mistakenly look at their investment statements for signs of progress towards achieving their goals. Though investment performance is important, it is not the whole story. We know all too well from recent history that markets can go through extreme bear markets. If your investment policy* calls for a large percentage of your investments to be held in stocks, it is likely your portfolio value was lower during this time period. This does not mean failure in any one particular year or period of time.

We will measure progress based on the achievement of a specific goal such as putting away towards retirement the contribution amount that was planned at the beginning of the year, addressing estate planning issues, or risk management issues. We will help you to set realistic, achievable goals and then coach you throughout the year so these goals are met.

How many people can remember attending a mandatory personal finance course in high school or college? We would imagine the answer would be very few. Our society does a very poor job of educating the population about personal finance.
